The principal aim of Gopio includes mainly essential ingredients for human development. These are student exchange, cultural exchange, business networking, economic cooperation, social development, educational activities, health facilities, equality for all and cooperation with all countries and all people.
 

Gopio in essence is an International network of People of Indian Origin worldwide. The preliminary meeting was held in London in 1987. It was founded a year later at the first Global Convention of People of Indian Origin at New York, USA in l989 i.e. 15 years ago. The initial aim of Gopio was to fight or solve human rights violation against people of Indian origin in some countries. This situation has improved and as such the objectives has been completely overhauled in the later years. Two to three yearly world convention were held in different world capitals such as London (UK), Paris (France), New York (USA), Port Luis (Mauritius),Delhi (India), Johannesburg (South Africa) and Katmandu (Nepal).

 

Gopio has now set its priorities in pooling the resources both financial and professional for the benefit of the PIOs and NRIs, worldwide. Towards this goal all of you are welcome and officially invited to join this wonderful international organization. For your information GOPIO is accredited by the UN as an NGO to participate in the conference against Racism. Gopio has emerged as a secular, non-religious, and non-political global organization with Gopio country chapters spread globally including Singapore as its youngest member.

 

We had several cultural, social and educational activities in the past and we will be having many more interesting and useful functions in the near future. Your participation in these activities is extremely important to us. We would like to have more members and we are doing our best to increase the pool. Gopio Singapore is laying the foundation for the 8th Gopio World conference to be held in Singapore in the year 2005.
